  The US is dropping pre-departure tests for international travellers from Sunday

The US is expected to announce that it will be lifting COVID-19 testing requirements for international travel. 

A senior administration official has told journalists that the entry rules could be dropped as soon as Sunday with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) saying testing is no longer necessary. 

The travel industry has spent months lobbying the Biden administration to drop testing requirements that have been in place since January 2021. Politicians and scientists have voiced their concern about continuing to test international travellers too.

According to reports, this is soon set to change as the US looks to drop testing requirements in the coming days. The official told news outlets that the Biden administration plans to work with airlines to ensure a smooth transition.
