Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) is proud to present Chris Contos as the 2021-2022 recipient of the President’s Award, which recognizes a person who made a significant contribution to the success of the association throughout the course of the year.

Now-Immediate PastPresident Mark Pate selected Contos for the award for his dedication to leading HFTP’s Young Professionals Advisory Council, which Contos has been a member of since 2018.

“One area for tremendous growth for our association is the young professional segment, and Chris has been an engaging leader of this campaign,” Pate said in his presentation speech at the Tribute to Success dinner held during the 2022 HFTP Annual Convention in Austin, Texas on September 15. “Because of this, the council has generated lots of new and fantastic ideas; the results of which have been excellent generational-specific education programming and meet-ups.”

Contos is the Director of Business Development for Evention, LLC and was an active member of the HFTP Chicago Chapter prior to his new role in New York City. During his time as a member of HFTP, he has been a member of the Global Chapter Relations Committee, Chapter President for both his undergraduate chapter at DePaul University and for the Chicago Chapter, sits on the board of the Chicago Chapter, and has risen from councilmember status of the Global Young Professionals Council to serving as co-chair. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Leadership, Economics and HR Management from DePaul and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Contos thanked Pate for the award in a video shown at the dinner and said it means the world to him coming from a student chapter to this level of recognition.

“It’s been a great ride,” Contos said. “I appreciate all of you and everyone who has contributed to this fantastic organization.”
